Preventing Identity Theft

I recently attended a webinar all about credit scores and buying power. Part of the program gave tips on protecting yourself against identity theft. Unfortunately that is something we have to worry about these days.

Here are a few of the tips I thought were worth passing along. You know all those credit card offers you get? Make sure to shred them. I have a little paper shredder that definitely comes in handy! Also, never mail payments from your house. Take the time to drop those payments at the post office or at a USPS drop-box in a well trafficked area.

It’s also a good idea to get a copy of your credit report every year at AnnualCreditReport.com

Your credit score greatly affects your ability to buy a house, a car, etc. Keep track of it while also keeping yourself safe from identity thiefs.
